The '2026 SFTI-SUSTech International Conference & Invited Exhibition,' organized by 건국대학교's BK21 Advanced Materials 인재양성 연구단 for 기초-응용 학문융합, was 성공적 개최 in Shenzhen, 중국. Co-hosted by the 한국의류산업학회 and the College of Design at 남방과학기술대학교, the 행사 brought together 161 전문가 from nine 국가 to deeply discuss the 미래 development of the fashion 산업, integrating 인공지능 and digital 기술.
'Fashion Intelligence and Symbiosis' Gathers Experts from Nine Nations
This 국제 학술 교류 took place from July 13 to 17 at the 남방과학기술대학교 Conference Center in Shenzhen, 중국. Jointly organized by 건국대학교's BK21 Advanced Materials 인재양성 연구단 and the Advanced Materials 융합 연구소, and co-hosted by the 한국의류산업학회 and SUSTech's College of Design, the 행사 facilitated 국제 학술 교류 and 산학 협력 programs.
Under the 주제 'Fashion 지능 & 공생: AI, 인간, and Nature,' 161 연구자, designers, artists, and 산업계 전문가 from nine 국가, including 한국, convened. They extensively 공유 insights on the 융합 가능성 of 인공지능, digital 기술, 첨단소재 and 친환경 materials, and fashion design, exploring 미래 발전 방향 for the fashion and 섬유산업.
The 개회식 began with a 환영사 by Jun-Seok Ko, 회장 of the 한국의류산업학회. 상무영사 Jong-Seon Kim from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou, 부관장 Bora Yoon of KOTRA's Shenzhen Trade Office, and Dr. Chul-Hwan Moon, 한국섬유소재연구원장, delivered 축사. 기조 강연 providing 통찰 into the 미래 발전 방향 of the fashion and 섬유산업 and 첨단소재 were given by 학장 Dennis Jie Sun of 둥화대학교 in 중국, CEO Young-Ik Son of Bo Kwang I&T, and 교수 Geun-Young Oh of Buffalo State, 뉴욕주립대학교 in the 미국.
Sharing AI and Advanced Materials Convergence Research Outcomes and Presenting Future Visions
The 학술대회 featured a 총 of 74 논문 발표, comprising 22 구두 발표 and 52 poster presentations. The 주요 발표 내용 focused on 융합 연구 integrating fashion and 섬유산업 with 첨단소재, including 인공지능 기반 fashion algorithms, smart wearable 기술, 친환경 and 자원순환 소재, and digital retail. 구두 발표 were divided into three sessions: wearable 기술, fashion 지능, and 지능형 algorithms & sustainable material 혁신, 공유 the latest 연구 성과 and 산업 trends.
Notably, In-Ki Hong, a 박사과정생 participating in 건국대학교's BK21 인력양성 사업, received the 최우수 논문상 in the poster presentation category for his 논문, 'TDDFT/TDA Insight into Fe Oxidation-Activated Charge-Transfer Absorption in Tannin-Iron Black Chromophores.' This 연구 garnered significant 주목 by demonstrating the 가능성 for 융합 in 색채 and fashion 소재 연구 기반 on 첨단소재, through 이론적 해석 of tannin-철 based black chromophores.
Alongside the 학술대회, an international fashion invitational 전시 showcased 37 fashion and textile 작품 by designers and artists from various 국가 including 한국, 중국, the 미국, 일본, and the Philippines. The 전시 was structured around three 주제: 도시 기술, the 융합 of 전통 and 첨단소재 기술, and the 미래 fashion 생태계, 제시 diverse 가능성 for the 미래 fashion 산업 by combining 전통 복식문화 with 첨단 기술 and 친환경 가치.
Exploring Industrial Site Visits and Expanding International Collaboration
During the 국제 학술 교류 행사, participants also engaged in related programs, including 주요 산업 현장 방문 such as the Baidu Exhibition Hall, Huaqiangbei, Guangzhou Zhongda 원단 and 부자재 시장, 의류 제조시설 in the Foshan 지역, and the Eachway Fashion Museum. Participants broadened their 견문 by directly observing 생산 and 유통 현장 of 중국's fashion and 섬유산업, as well as 첨단 디지털 기술 적용 사례 in the 산업.
These 산업 현장 방문 fostered 심도 discussions on 방안 to expand 공동 연구, 교육, and 산업 교류 among 대학, 연구기관, and 산업체. This served as an opportunity to establish a practical platform for 산학 협력, beyond mere 학술 교류.
Professor Jun-Seok Ko, 대표 of 건국대학교's BK21 Advanced Materials 인재양성 연구단, stated, "It is highly significant that 국내외 연구자 and 산업계 전문가 gathered at a 중요한 시점 when AI, digital fabrication, and 친환경 혁신 are rapidly changing the paradigm of the fashion and 섬유산업, to collectively discuss the 발전 방향 of 미래 첨단소재 and fashion 기술." Professor Ko also expressed his ambition for this 행사 to be a significant turning point for expanding the 학문 융합, 국제 공동 연구, and 산학 협력 성과 promoted by 건국대학교's BK21 연구단, and to continue leading the 분야 of 인공지능, 첨단소재, and sustainable fashion 기술 through 국제 연구 네트워크 강화.
