This event aims to discover and foster the next generation of gukak (Korean traditional music) artists. A total of 24 emerging gukak teams will participate, presenting a diverse repertoire that spans both traditional and contemporary gukak forms.

The 'Emerging Gukak Artists' Experimental Stage': A Gateway for Next-Generation Talent

The 'Emerging Gukak Artists' Experimental Stage' is an initiative organized and hosted by the Korea Traditional Performing Arts Foundation. It has become a premier platform for discovering and nurturing aspiring gukak artists by supporting their repertoire development and performance opportunities. This year's event will take place from August 15 to September 10 at the Gwangmu Stage, Traditional Performing Arts Creative Center, featuring 24 teams that will present fresh and experimental performances.

Distinguishing itself from other support programs for young gukak artists, this initiative clearly separates and supports both traditional and creative gukak disciplines. Furthermore, it actively promotes balanced growth across the entire gukak sector by specifically selecting and supporting regional artistic groups, thereby expanding opportunities for local performers.

From Pansori to Original Music Dramas: A Diverse Showcase of Traditional Vocal and Instrumental Music

The '2026 Emerging Gukak Artists' Experimental Stage' will open on August 15 with Kang Na-hyun's complete performance of Gangsan-je Simcheongga Pansori.
