This initiative aims to discover and nurture young creators passionate about planning and producing innovative forms of Gukak (Korean traditional music) performances. The program offers a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge across all aspects of performance production, moving beyond simple execution to transform creative ideas into captivating shows beloved by audiences.

Enhancing Practical Skills for Audience-Centered Gukak Performance Planning

The Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation (TPAF), led by Chairman Bae Young-ho, announced it is recruiting participants for 'Gukak Trailblazer: Business Lab STEP 1' until August 27. This program is designed to identify and cultivate promising creators who can plan innovative Gukak-based performance products. It aims to provide Gukak artists with hands-on experience in the practical aspects of performance production, including planning, directing, stage design, and marketing, moving beyond just their performance skills.

The experiential workshop will be held over three sessions, from August 31 to September 14, every Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM, at the Yeinmaru Seminar Room within the National Gugak Center. The primary goal is to help participants transform their unique ideas into attractive performances that actively draw audiences. Through this, TPAF seeks to pioneer new markets for Gukak and establish a sustainable foundation for artists' careers.

Workshop Curriculum with Expert Guidance

The workshop features a three-session curriculum, each with distinct objectives: exploring new perspectives, designing audience-centered performances, and pitching proposals. Day 1 focuses on analyzing the current Gukak market and successful cases from other genres, encouraging participants to shift their mindset for innovative Gukak creation. On Day 2, participants engage in practical exercises, re-evaluating performances from an audience's viewpoint and developing their own unique performance concepts.

The final Day 3 involves participants forming teams of four to present their performance proposals, integrating the knowledge and ideas gained throughout the workshop. The program boasts a distinguished lineup of instructors, including experts in arts management, experience design, and marketing communication. Son Hye-ri, former President of the Gyeonggi Arts Center and a visiting professor at Chugye University, will guide participants in audience-centric performance design. Han Ji-yeon, Director of the Arts Business Division at the Seoul Cultural Foundation, will cover art education methodologies aimed at fostering audience participation and engagement. Additionally, Kwon Hee-kyun, a marketing expert with experience at renowned brands like Cartier and BMW MINI, will impart new marketing strategies and ticket sales expertise applicable to the Gukak sector.

Growth Opportunities and Phased Support for Young Artists

The 'Gukak Trailblazer: Business Lab STEP 1' program is open to artists under 40. Eligible participants include Gukak musicians with professional performance skills, as well as performing artists who have experience in directing or choreography. The initiative aims to empower talented young artists to contribute to the modern succession and development of Gukak.

Exceptional participants from STEP 1 will have the opportunity to advance to the 'STEP 2 Bootcamp.' Here, they will form teams of four to further develop their performance product ideas in greater depth. Outstanding proposals developed during this bootcamp will receive continuous support all the way through to actual production, providing a tangible pathway for ideas to become reality. Recruitment for STEP 2 and STEP 3 will take place in October. Through this comprehensive program, TPAF hopes Gukak artists will continue to embrace creative challenges and connect with a wider audience.

Traditional Performing Arts Foundation Invites Creators for 'Gukak Trailblazer: Business Lab STEP 1' The Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation (TPAF)…

[4
2031,2033,2029,2032,1384,2028,2027,2026,2030
post-1597","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-culture","tag-artists","tag-bae-young-ho","tag-business-lab","tag-creators","tag-gukak","tag-gukak-trailblazer","tag-performance-planning","tag-traditional-performing-arts-promotion-foundation","tag-workshop
["GET
