The 34th Young Theater 축제 commenced with a vibrant 개막식 on June 7 at the Sungui Women's University Concert Hall. Actor Ha Hee-ra, a professor in Sungui Women's University's 연기예술과, delivered a welcoming address to an enthusiastic 객석 of over 1,000 대학 theater 전공, who filled the hall and contributed to the festival's characteristic bright and 열정 분위기.

This year's event held special 의미 as it marked the 150주년 of the 탄생 of Kim Gu, a revered 독립운동 activist. The gathering of 청년 talents at Sungui Women's University, a place imbued with the spirit of the independence movement, echoed Kim Gu's vision of a nation powered by "high 문화 strength." The ceremony was also graced by 내빈 from major 문화예술 기관, including the 한국연극협회 and the Seoul Theater Association, as well as 후원 such as the Seoul Cultural Foundation and Woori Bank.

In his 축사, Park Hyun-soon, 이사장 of the 한국연극협회, expressed deep admiration for the 청년's 열정 and pledged 지속적 support through 현장 programs for theater 학생. He also announced a groundbreaking initiative: the 한국연극협회 would provide 해외 연수 기회 for 우수 학생 참가, an announcement that received enthusiastic 호응. Kim Hana, a professor at Sungui Women's University and the 총연출 of the 개막식, highlighted her intention to create a harmonious 무대 where all 참가 could join, rather than just limiting the event to VIP speeches.

Running until July 5, the 축제 comprises eight distinct sections, promising a rich array of attractions for 객석. Highlights include "YTF FOCUS," which spotlights Chinese plays in celebration of the "Year of 문화교류 between 한중일." "YTF CLASSIC" offers rare 기회 to experience masterpieces by legendary playwrights such as Shakespeare, Chekhov, and Brecht, while "YTF PROJECT" showcases innovative 15-minute relay 공연.
In addition to the main 공연, the Young Theater 축제 also features various 부대행사 designed to foster 교류 among theater 예술가 and contribute to 사회적 good. The "Korea-China-Japan University Theater Networking Reception" facilitates international 교류 with 참가 단체 from Japan and China.
