Busan’s spring has been colored with the art and warm spirit of global artist Kim Ji-hee. Since March 17, ‘Art-Bound Busan 2026’ has been held, drawing attention as a cultural project that extends beyond mere viewing. This project represents a new endeavor to spread positive influence throughout the local community through art.
The Value of ‘Art Sharing’ That Leads to Contributions
A key feature of this event is that visitors’ artistic experiences translate into tangible support for the Busan community. All proceeds from the specially produced ‘Artistic Emotion Goods’ for the project will be donated.
These proceeds are designated for supporting underprivileged groups and advancing culture and art in Busan. Event organizers explained that this initiative is an attempt to actualize the philosophy of artist Kim Ji-hee’s ‘Sealed Smile’ series, which sings of contemporary hope, into real-world sharing.
An event official stated that the purpose of the donation is for art not to remain confined within galleries, but to become a source of hope that illuminates the darkest corners of the local community.
Encountering the Artist’s World and Limited Edition Goods in Downtown Busan
The art goods, which serve as a medium for sharing, can be found in various iconic locations across Busan. Visitors can visit the main exhibition venue, the Geumgo Art Museum at the Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum.
In addition, limited edition goods are available at P.ARK, a representative multi-cultural complex in Busan, and at the European-style espresso bar Casa Busano. The goods, created with the artist’s signature ‘smile’ as a motif, offer a special experience of enjoying art in daily life and participating in charitable giving.
Kim Ji-hee’s Large-Scale Exhibition Proving Her Global Standing
The exhibition, which forms the basis of this sharing project, consists of Kim Ji-hee’s largest-ever works, proving her status as a global artist. The colossal 9.1-meter masterpiece ‘Eternal Golden,’ which has captivated collectors worldwide, is on display.
Alongside this, 29 carefully selected works are being unveiled for the first time in Busan. This project is expected to leverage Kim’s global recognition to brand Busan not merely as a tourist destination, but as a ‘global cultural and artistic brand city’.
‘Art-Bound Busan 2026’ is a significant event that simultaneously showcases the social role of art and the value of sharing. Artist Kim Ji-hee’s artistic world and warm-hearted spirit are harmonizing to deliver a positive message to the Busan community. This project is expected to present a new cultural model where art and sharing develop together.
