Eumseong's Glocal Town, a youth village in Chungcheongbuk-do, is launching a unique program designed to offer an immersive 'local living' experience, moving beyond conventional tourism. From August 4 to 6, the three-day 'Glocal Local Living' program will provide young participants with an opportunity to delve into the daily life of the region and discover new values.
Eumseong Glocal Town: Beyond Tourism with 'Local Living'
Eumseong Glocal Town, a youth village located in Chungcheongbuk-do's Eumseong County, is inviting participants for its 'Glocal Local Living' program, which aims to redefine the travel experience. Scheduled for three days from August 4 to 6, this initiative goes beyond traditional sightseeing, offering an opportunity for an in-depth immersion into the daily life of Eumseong.
Unlike typical tourism focused on visiting attractions, the 'Local Living' program is designed for participants to directly engage with various community members, including local residents, young entrepreneurs, businesses, and farmers, experiencing the authentic daily life of Eumseong. Through this process, participants will identify local challenges and contribute to projects by proposing creative solutions.
Engaging as 'Local Detectives' and Unique Cultural Experiences
A key component of the Glocal Local Living program involves participants acting as 'Local Detectives,' exploring various corners of Eumseong County. They will meticulously observe local commercial areas and living environments, undertaking missions to identify problems and propose solutions. This activity is designed to foster a multifaceted understanding of the region and encourage active participation.
The program also features a wealth of unique experiential activities not typically found in regular tours. These include a tofu-making experience at Pulmuone, an exploration of the distinctive 'Billionaire Toilet Kingdom,' relay seminars led by local young entrepreneurs, and global gourmet culture experiences. These activities are expected to offer participants diverse experiences and leave lasting impressions.
Recruiting Youth to Become Regional 'Players'
Ari Lee, CEO of Glocal Town, emphasized that this local living program offers participants the experience of becoming 'players' who actively contribute to building the community, rather than just being tourists. She explained that the program will allow participants to directly discover Eumseong's potential, forge meaningful connections with new people, and establish genuine ties to the region.
The program is open to young adults aged 19 to 39, both Korean and international nationals. The participation fee is 50,000 KRW, which includes accommodation, meals, transportation, and all program costs, making it accessible for interested individuals. Applications can be submitted through the official 'Youth Village Creation' website until 2 PM on July 29.
Glocal Town, operated by Jamtori, was established as part of the Ministry of Interior and Safety's 'Youth Village Creation Project.' This initiative actively promotes various projects where foreign residents and local community members collaborate to develop and operate cultural and tourism content, significantly contributing to regional revitalization.
