On Disabled Persons' Day, 장애예술 illuminates its present and history

The Korea Foundation for Disabled 문화 Arts is presenting special 문화예술 행사 at Daehak-ro Ieum Center, Modoo Art Space, and Modoo Arts Theater to commemorate the upcoming 'Disabled Persons' Day' on April 20. The Korea Foundation for Disabled 문화 Arts (Chairperson Bang Gwi-hee) is presenting a variety of 문화예술 행사, encompassing exhibitions and 공연, at Daehak-ro Ieum Center, Modoo Art Space, and Modoo Arts Theater to commemorate Disabled Persons' Day (April 20). This initiative, unfolding across three venues, is designed to showcase diverse facets of 장애예술 art. From a historical exhibition that looks back at records, to a 기획전 exploring the meaning of relationships and collaboration, and even 공연 that directly engage the audience, 장애예술 art can be experienced in various ways.

◇ '장애예술 Artists History Exhibition – People Who Became Paths' (April 20 – May 10 / Ieum Center) At Daehak-ro Ieum Center, the April 20 to May 10 기획전 기획전 '장애예술 Artists History Exhibition – People Who Became Paths' will be held. This exhibition is Korea's first archival exhibition, exploring the lives and art of first-generation 장애예술 artists from the Joseon Dynasty through modern and contemporary times. Focusing on 38 individuals, it examines the historical flow of 장애예술 and, based on records and historical materials, shows how 장애예술 has continued through the ages. Furthermore, it is significant in that it lays the foundation for building a 장애예술 archive.

◇ 기획전 'The Art of Relationship: Willingly Leaning on Each Other' (April 16 – May 23 / Modoo Art Space) At Modoo Art Space, the April 1 기획전 from 기획전 'The Art of Relationship: Willingly Leaning on Each Other' will open. This 장애예술 disabled art exhibition views disabled art not just as individual achievement but from the perspective of 'relationship' and 'collaboration,' exploring the possibilities of creation expanded through close solidarity. Six artists and teams, including Kim Jin-woo, Dungji, and Raumcon, participate, meeting the audience through various forms such as painting, installation, 공연, and participatory programs.

◇ 'Concert for All: Together, Spring' (April 20 / Modoo Arts Theater) On Disabled Persons' Day, April 20, at 7:30 PM, the Modoo Arts Theater 공연 will host the commemorative 공연 'Concert for All: Together, Spring'. This 국악 공연 is a crossover, based on 국악 장애예술, and features diverse performers, primarily 장애예술 artists, presenting a stage where tradition and modernity blend. A variety of performers, including Gayageum player Seon Young-sook, piano-byeongchang Choi Jun, Pansori singer Heo Jeong, Samulnori Ttamtti, Dream On Dance Company, Gyeonggi folk song singer 국악won, and fusion 국악 band Akdan Gwangchil, will participate, and the 국악 행사 will be hosted by traditional Korean musician Oh Jeong-hae.
