Global K-Pop Festival to Unfold at Seoul's DDP
A global K-Pop cultural festival, the 'K-Pop Vibe Seoul Dance Competition,' is set to take place at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul on Saturday, July 25, at 1:30 PM. This event, a prominent cultural complex representing Seoul, is hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, overseen by the Seoul Global Center, and managed by the International Super Queen Model Association, adding to its significance. The competition, to be held in the DDP Design Lab's 1st-floor showroom, is expected to draw global attention.
The competition is designed to foster active cultural exchange among foreign residents, international students, and children from multicultural families residing in Korea. Utilizing K-Pop as a common language, it will provide a platform for participants to communicate and achieve harmony, establishing itself as a global cultural festival that offers unique experiences and memories against the backdrop of Seoul.
Diverse Competition Categories and Generous Awards
The 'K-Pop Vibe Seoul Dance Competition' is open to foreign residents, international students, and children from multicultural families aged 17 and above. It will feature two categories: individual and group performances. Participants have the option to enter both categories. For the group category, Korean nationals can also join teams of 2 to 10 members, provided at least one foreign national is included, creating a special opportunity for people of various nationalities to perform together.
The competition welcomes all dance genres, including K-Pop cover dance, general dance, b-boying, hip-hop, locking, contemporary dance, and traditional Korean dance. This open approach allows participants to freely express their individuality, creativity, and artistry.
A total prize pool of 5 million won and various awards are prepared to further fuel the participants' enthusiasm. Prizes will be awarded in both individual and group categories. The grand prize-winning group (one team) will receive 2 million won, while the grand prize-winning individual (one person) will receive 1 million won, along with a trophy, certificate, and additional prizes. Awards will also be given for excellence (two teams, 700,000 won each; two individuals, 300,000 won each), outstanding performance, popularity, and special awards (Best Dancer Award, Best Performance Award).
Registration and Public Participation Programs
Individuals or teams wishing to participate in the competition must submit a dance video, no longer than 3 minutes, via the Google Form application by Tuesday, June 30. Applicants must accurately provide necessary information, including name, date of birth, contact details, place of residence, nationality, and visa status. Finalists who pass the preliminary screening will be notified individually on July 3, with detailed information regarding the final round to be provided separately.
On the day of the final competition, a variety of participatory programs will be available for citizens to join in the festive atmosphere. These include a random play dance for all K-Pop fans, a 'life-four-cuts' photo booth to capture precious memories, and a Hanbok experience to explore traditional Korean beauty, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
