The '2026 Korea-Philippines International Art Exchange Exhibition,' themed 'Across Seas, Across Hearts,' is set to open in Seoul, bringing together leading artists from both nations. This event aims to strengthen cultural ties and foster artistic inspiration, featuring diverse and high-quality works from established masters and mid-career artists from both Korean and Philippine art scenes.
International Art Exchange Exhibition Fosters Bilateral Artistic Ties
The '2026 Korea-Philippines International Art Exchange Exhibition' will take place from June 3 (Wednesday) to June 8 (Monday) at two venues in Seoul: Gallery ALL in Insadong and Gallery ALLEY near Sinsa Station. Hosted by the Korea Professional Artists Association and sponsored by institutions including the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines and the Philippine-based Cebu GriGo Art Corp., the exhibition is anticipated to be a highly credible international event.
Under the theme 'Across Seas, Across Hearts,' the exchange will feature a significant number of leading contemporary artists from the Philippines alongside masters and mid-career artists representing the Korean art community. This gathering is expected to reinforce cultural bonds between Korea and the Philippines, fostering profound communication through the shared language of art.
Driving Forces and Featured Artists
The realization of this major international exchange exhibition owes much to the dedicated efforts of the directors who bridged the art communities of both nations. Director Choi Bin-a, who served as the general manager, showcased her expertise as a prominent modern Minhwa artist in Korea. Together with Director Julie (Hee Jung Julie Kim), she spearheaded the entire process, from artist recruitment to exhibition planning, ensuring a high-caliber presentation.
Among the participating artists, Oh Ji-hyun (artist name J) is drawing particular attention. Having transitioned from a popular KakaoTalk emoticon artist to a modern Minhwa artist, Oh reinterprets traditional Minhwa with a contemporary sensibility. In addition to her, numerous other leading mid-career and veteran artists from Korea and the Philippines are slated to unveil their distinctive artistic visions at this exchange.
A Rich Showcase of Artistry and Emotion
To offer visitors an even richer experience, the exhibition is divided into two parts, staged across different venues and dates. Part 1 opens on June 3 (Wednesday) on the second floor of Gallery ALL in Insadong, while Part 2 commences on June 5 (Friday) at Gallery ALLEY near Sinsa Station. The opening ceremonies for both parts are scheduled for 4 PM on their respective inauguration days.
Jeong Eui-young, director of Gallery ALLEY, which is hosting Part 2 of the exhibition, expressed her enthusiasm: 'Based on Gallery ALLEY's extensive experience in managing large-scale exhibitions, we are delighted to host a meaningful international exchange that connects hearts across borders through art.' She added, 'We hope the passionate works from artists of both nations will convey profound emotion and comfort to our visitors.'
